“Geshe Michael is a very special teacher. When I hear him speak, I really get the essence of what he is saying. To be able to spend three days on a business retreat with him is really a great blessing.

He speaks about great truths in a very clear and often humorous way that makes them very easy to assimilate. I find it particularly useful to see how his teachings manifest in my life with respect to money, business, work, relationships, health and actually really just all aspects of my life.”

Geshe Michael is an amazing teacher. His message was so clear. He explained a complex concept in a very simple way. I could relate what he said to what is happening in my life.

The Diamond Cutter Executive Business Retreat exceeded my expectations.

Geshe Micheal and his team of teachers created an enriching environment with so much love and conducive for learning. His teaching was easy to follow and allowed me to see life from a different perspective.

The most amazing aspect of the retreat is that it has equipped me with skills that I use in my daily life, in particular in treating my patients and in interacting with colleagues at work.”

How my life has changed since meeting GMR
6/10/12 6:33 PM
It has been 2 ½ years since I first met Geshe Michael Roach. I marvel at how my life has changed so remarkably, almost beyond recognition. Who I am today bears little resemblance to who I was before I met GMR. My life today is guided by the desire to develop consciousness for every action that I take, the awareness of the implication of each action – not only today, but the long term consequences; this is now no longer just my pursuit or my belief, but one that is also shared by people close to me – my mother, my family and my colleagues. I have learned to understand how everything in life comes from me and starts with me – that I am responsible for my own reality and the author of my life. An incredibly liberating realization. One that has allowed me to understand that blaming (habit of a lifetime) is a futile exercise, as I am now able to trace most of my life’s events to a single source: me. It does not mean that I have stopped blaming others, far from it! But, most of the time, I am now able to catch myself before I inflict the blame on others; or sometimes, I am ashamed to say, immediately after the index finger is lifted…. Another important realization is that if everything starts with me, then I need to make sure I watch closely the way I behave towards others. If I want my fellow motorists on the road to treat me with respect, then I need to begin treating them with respect; if I want happiness in my life, then I need to make sure my actions do not result in others’ unhappiness; if I want my colleagues at work to deliver their work on time, then I need to stop another life-long habit of procrastination; if I want people to turn up on time for meetings, then I have to make sure I am punctual for my appointments…. Simple? You may ask if this strategy has worked for me. YES! Not only for me, but for many around me who has begun to test this simple strategy in their own lives. It works like magic! One of the greatest consequences of meeting Geshe Michael has to be the improved relationship I now have with my mother. Understanding that the anger and the continued conflict I had with my mother is not only soul-destroying for her, but life destroying for me – I began to take steps in changing the way I interacted with my mother. The friendship we have today is beyond anything I had ever thought possible. I go to sleep at night now thanking the Universe for the blessings of a caring mother… who would have thought this would be possible 2 years ago?? Anger is another life-long “friend”. I was asked 2 days ago by colleagues at work to share with them the tips for managing anger. They have all witnessed the storms of my anger, and watched the transformation over the past 2 years. I am humbled by their request. A great testament of how my life has changed.
Tools? Yes, there were a few: “Six-times daily entry” is one of the most powerful tool given to us by Geshe Michael. It works on placing our consciousness on the things we need to work on, change or improve. Meditation – including Tonglen meditation. The Heart Sutra
And, practice, practice, practice……
